چکیده

Conventional methodologies towards polycrystal plasticity use an aggregate of single crystals and this choice of the aggregate affects the response of the polycrystal. In order to address this issue, a continuum approach is presented for the representation of polycrystals through an orientation distribution function over the orientation space. Additionally, a constitutive framework for thermoelastic–viscoplastic response of metals based on polycrystal plasticity is presented along with a coupled macro–micro, fully implicit Lagrangian finite element algorithm. Numerical examples that highlight the accuracy, performance and benefits of the proposed approach are presented. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Multi-length scale design of deformation processes for control of orientation (texture) dependent properties

Design of deformation (thermo-mechanical) processes to achieve desired structural response will be addressed. Plastic deformation is assumed to be accommodated through crystallographic slip and reorientation of crystals. Conventional methodologies towards polycrystal plasticity use an aggregate of single crystals and this choice of the aggregate affects the response of the polycrystal. In order...

Numerical homogenization of nonlinear viscoplastic two-dimensional polycrystals ?

In this paper, we numerically determine the effective stress-strain relation of some two-dimensional polycrystals. These are aggregates of a few tens of perfectly bonded single-crystal (hexagonal atomic lattice) grains, with varying orientations. Each grain obeys a given nonlinear viscoplastic stress-strain relation, which depends on the orientation of the grain. Precise calculations performed ...

Displacement Field Due to a Cylindrical Inclusion in a Thermoelastic Half-Space

In this paper, the closed form analytical expressions for the displacement field due to a cylindrical inclusion in a thermoelastic half-space are obtained. These expressions are derived in the context of steady-state uncoupled thermoelasticity using thermoelastic displacement potential functions. The thermal displacement field is generated due to differences in the coefficients of linear therma...

A Continuum Shell-beam Finite Element Modeling of Buried Pipes with 90-degree Elbow Subjected to Earthquake Excitations

In the current work, the seismic analysis of bent region in buried pipes is performed, and effects of soil properties and modeling methods on pipe’s response are investigated. To do this task Beam, Beam-Shell Finite Element modeling and a Continuum shell FE models of a 90 degrees elbow are employed. In the Beam model, the pipe is simulated by beam elements while combined shell-beam elements a...

A FEM Multiscale Homogenization Procedure using Nanoindentation for High Performance Concrete

This paper aims to develop a numerical multiscale homogenization method for prediction of elasto-viscoplastic properties of a high performance concrete (HPC). The homogenization procedure is separated into two-levels according to the microstructure of the HPC: the mortar or matrix level and the concrete level. The elasto-viscoplastic behavior of individual microstructural phases of the matrix a...
